Animals and Gods
February 11, 2010
I just felt like drawing a baby zebra. And some how, through no will of my own, it came out pink. These things happen I guess. I’m sure in a parallel universe there is a drawing just like this that’s chartruse.
I don’t really know why, but I felt like drawing a somewhat realistic illustration of Badger, Badger Mushroom. But I wanted it to be kind of subtle. I like the way it turned out. Badger, badger…
This is an illustration I did for my sister as a gift. She studies international politics and religions, so I thought she would enjoy this. The animal is a tanuki, a Japanese spirit animal that causes mischief and carries around sake.
Markers
January 26, 2010
Today I am posting some marker illustrations. I use Chartpak AD markers on Bienfang marker paper. The pen I use keeps changing, still trying to find one I really like that doesn’t bleed once I add color. So far Micron is winning, but I want to look for something that feels a little smoother. The only one that doesn’t use a pen is the girl with the mohawk. I drew her in pencil on regular drawing paper, then put the marker paper on top so I could see where I needed to color, then scanned both images into Photoshop and put the line work on top. I think I make want to retrace the pencil work onto the marker paper, so I can have a completed hard copy, but it was fun to experiment.
